What is Adobe Flash, and why do I need it to use MyCanvas ?

Adobe Flash is a free, downloadable software program that works together with your Internet browser to make MyCanvas work. If you haven't already loaded Flash or if your version of the Flash software is not up-to-date, MyCanvas will notify you and provide a simple set of instructions to help you download the latest version.


Can I use MyCanvas with dial-up Internet access?

MyCanvas is an online application, meaning that the faster your connection to the Internet, the faster the tool can go. While using the tool with a dial-up connection is technically possible, it is highly discouraged because it will run so slowly and will be a very frustrating experience.


What are the minimum system requirements for MyCanvas ?

When I make a change to data in MyCanvas, is it updated in my tree on Ancestry.com?

Changes made to data in MyCanvas are not reflected in the corresponding tree on Ancestry.com.


I use a Mac, and each time I try to use the upload feature I am told that the file size of the file I am uploading exceeds the 15 MB limit, even when it is significantly less.

There is a known Mac upload issue that prohibits photo upload directly into the MyCanvas tool. Our engineers are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. In the meantime, you can upload and attach photos using Ancestry.com (see Working with Ancestry.com).
